I
am an experienced photographer, zoologist, and author.
My
passion for photography developed while working as a volunteer in
Africa. After
graduating university with a B.Sc in zoology, I wrote away to several
wildlife organisations in Africa asking for voluntary work. A reply to
one of my letters was the gateway to nearly four years in Southern
Africa. During
this time I conducted my own wildlife research, worked as a
conservation volunteer and assisted in several other wildlife research
projects.
Since
returning to New Zealand, I have led several wildlife
safaris back to the African countries of Botswana, Namibia, and
Zimbabwe.
Using
my zoology knowledge and photography I have co-authored, and helped to
illustrate 40 non-fiction children's educational books.
These books are on a variety of mammals, amphibians, reptiles and
invertebrates. They are available in the United
States, Australia and New Zealand. Writing these books has
given me the opportunity to reveal the magic, curiosity and beauty I
have found in some of the world's best-loved wildlife.
